In love with the golden Bangkok ๐ŸŒ„

Breathtaking architecture, world known food and lively nightlife: Bangkok has it all.

Thanks to more affordable plane tickets and the multitude of amazing beaches, Thailand has quickly become a very popular and touristy destination.

However, rather than sand and crystal blue sea, my desire was indeed to be surrounded by golden temples.

…and it felt like being in heaven.

If you are obsessed with Thai architecture like me,this will be your ย MUST-TO-DO list:

  1. The Grand Palace: the most breathtaking complex of buildings I have visited so far. ย Built in 1782 and home of the Thai King for 150 years.
  2. Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew): Buddha image in a meditating position considered the most sacred one.
  3. Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho): oldest temple which houses a 46 metres long golden Buddha.
  4. The Golden Mount (Wat Saket) :80 meter high hill with a temple on top and an amazing view of the city.

After wandering around among golden Buddhas for the whole day, you need a good feet massage and a bit of nightlife!

The tuk-tuk is the most common transport method and it is usually very cheap if you negotiate in advance.

Your first stop has to be the infamous Kao San Road which is the craziest, most crowded and noisy set of streets you will ever see in your life.

I loved also the side streets such as Soi Rambuttri and Phra Athit Road for drinks and dinner in exquisite decorated places.
Hail a taxi and head to Silom for fancy clubs and lounge bars.

I enjoyed the drink and the view at the Ce La Vรฌ (although the one in Singapore remains the best club in the world)and the unique interior design and ย atmosphere at the Maggie Choo.

All “The Hangover Part II “fans will know already that the movie was filmed in Bangkok and the famous scene on the rooftop it’s the stunning one on the Lebua Tower.

Don’t:

Dress inappropriately when visiting the temples.

Mens are required to wear long pants and shirts, no sandals or flip flops.Women can’t wear see through clothes.

Alternatively you can pay a deposit to get proper clothes at the side entrance.. which have been worn already by hundreds of people.

… with a temperature of an average of 40 degrees.

I so wish I had looked it up before!! ๐Ÿ˜€
