Five paintings you need to see at least once in your life

People are usually surprised when I talk about my passion for museums and paintings.

They assume that it is impossible to be into fashion and art at the same time.

In reality, I do actually get very emotional in front of a Chanel..

…but also in front of a Van Gogh! 😀

Whether it’s a small British town or the Big Apple, I never go back home without visiting at least one museum.

If you love paintings, this is my top 5 in the entire world:

1.Il bacio by Francesco Hayez ,1859 – Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan, Italy.

Considered as a symbol of Italian Romanticism, it represents a couple kissing goodbye before the solder has to leave for the war.

2. The Kiss by Klimt, 1907 –  Österreichische Galerie Belvedere, Vienna, Austria.

Probably Klimt’s most famous work, it represents a different type of kiss compared to the Hayez one.

The two lovers ‘ bodies are entwined in a very erotic embrace and lost in the kiss.

 3. A Bar at the Folies-Bergère by Manet, 1882 – Courtauld Gallery,  London

Great example of Realism as it is a detailed representation of a someone at work. Suzon, the waitress, appears alienated from her world and she is the only person not reflected in the mirror.

 4. The Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh, 1889 – Museum of Modern Art, New York City

This masterpiece was on top of my bucket list and I almost burst into tears when I saw it. No one compares to Van Gogh to me. It represents the view from his asylum room of  Saint-Rémy-de-Provence at dawn.

5. The Scream by Edvard Munch, 1893 – National Gallery, Oslo, Norway

One of the world’s most valuable stolen treasure which was luckily found after 7 years.

It shows a screaming expression in a confusing landscape and it is considered the icon of the modern loneliness.

What about you, guys? Have you seen any of them? Which is your favorite?

Let me know! 😉
