I know it’s long overdue but..Happy New Year everyone!
Let’s start this 2018 with the second chapter of Let’s Discover New Capitals and also my first give-away!
As my desire to explore as much as I can never stops,I try sometimes to combine two close countries to make the most of my stay.
During a weekend in the beautiful Vienna me and my loyal travel buddy Silvia we decide to hop on a train direct to Slovakia.
It is roughly one hour and the ticket is fairly cheap so we told ourselves: Why Not?
We totally didn’t regret it!
Bratislava is one of those places which welcomes one with an incredibly cute old centre.
We spent sometime wandering around the cobbled streets and stopped for lunch in a cute cafeteria.
Tourism is becoming more predominant than before and I found locals very friendly and eager to assist you in English.
We then headed up to the hill where the castle is located, which is one of the nicest I have ever seen.
An incredible bonus is the beautiful view from the top of the city and the bridge.
As you can see from the pics, it was a very sunny day…how lucky!
We didn’t have much time left before getting our train so we spent the last hour or so exploring the modern part of the city and the Parliament.
I will totally recommend to pay a visit to Bratislava if you get the chance, it has been a very good choice for us!
So let’s talk about the first give-away on MorePlanesThanTrains!
As I am a huge fan of world maps I bought one of the scratch off ones which I find very inspiring as you get a visual guide on which to plan and reminds you of what you have already visited!
I am planning to add also other items such a portable power bank,a cute notebook and few beauty samples!
Any wanderlust addicted will be quite happy to receive this mystery box π
To enter the competition there are 2 simple rules:
1)Follow my blog
2)Like and leave a comment under this post!
I will randomly select the winner next Friday 19th of January.
Good luck and thank you for reading me!
xxx Valentina

Bratislava looks beautiful, Valentina. Places which are off the tourist charts are even more charming. I will make sure we get there someday π x

Indeed, Bratislava is a fine, relatively undiscovered, place to explore,

I love to travel at a leisure pace, enjoying the sites, but I like finding the tiny treasure trove towns, The ones that aren’t tourist traps, but have such history and fun in them. I am not extremely familiar with where Bratislava is, but the photos are absolutely breath taking. I especially loved the sign…. coffee as a hug for your brain. Who would ever think of that π

We actually lived in Bratislava for a year and a half before moving back to Sweden in 2014. We do, however, return to Bratislava from time to time as it is still one of our favorite destinations. There are still so much more to discover, especially once you leave the Old Town π
