Capital of Northern Ireland and just one hour by plane from London, Belfast is a city not to miss.
Our accommodation was in The Queen quarter, 5 minutes from the Botanic Garden and a pleasant 20 minutes walk to the city centre.
The weather was quite awful the first day but we got sun the following one!
Instalovers will be delighted with these 3 locations:
- Titanic Quarter: considered one of the biggest symbol of the city, you simply have to visit it. The ticket for the museum is a bit pricey,18£,but you will spend a nice and interesting afternoon.Make sure to visit also the Nomadic boat.
- Hidden Street Art: There is a very quirky street called Commercial Court that it’s worth visiting. You can enjoy the street art whilst sipping a drink
- Rooftop at the Dome: A full 360° view of the city.
Don’t:
Take the hop on/off bus. I usually prefer to follow my own itinerary but as we had just one day we thought it could have been a great idea to visit the city.
….wrong decision.
The bus was full and being on the lower deck means that you can’t hear what the guide is saying.
On top of that, you don’t have actually time to hop on and hop off to discover the places so it has been just a waste of time.
You can easily plan your own tour and stick to it!
P.s. Althought it can’t be considered an attraction I strongly suggest to pay a visit to “The Dock Cafe”.
Not only it has this gigantic world map which will capture you for hours, but what makes this place very original is that there isn’t a price list.
You order whatever you want and drop what you think you should pay in the “honesty money box”.
So cool.
Lovely post about my old home town … lived there for 10 years and Belfast has a big corner of my heart. Love the city … and the people.
